Do Not Judge So That You Will Not Be Judged. Mth. 7:1
by VW.org ini do not believe in the bible but i will use the reasoning from the new testament to argue against watchtower.
the reason i will only use the new testament is that jesus replaced the mosaic law with himself.
even watchtower agree with this principle.

Regarding jury service VW.Org
It's down to the conscience these days.
We had one older brother who did all the research and before the judge gave him the "as a Christian I cannot judge other people etc etc," and was fortunate enough to be left off.
Whereas our congregation secretary made no bones about having served twice on jury service, and in particular a case where as he said, "we nailed the b****rd."
And yes, he has a reputation for a similar attitude in judicial committees I am told.

Subliminal Messages
by Lost in the fog ini was watching a fascinating ted-ex video on hypnosis and hypnotism with a friend.
my friend wondered if the jws new music might have a hypnotic suggestion buried somewhere in it which gets everyone in attendance to listen and absorb stuff that is totally irrational for the entire program.
ending with a second subliminal message in the final song along the lines of "you will snap out of this state when you next hear the word amen.

My friend wondered if the JWs new music might have a hypnotic suggestion buried somewhere in it which gets everyone in attendance to listen and absorb stuff that is totally irrational for the entire program. Ending with a second subliminal message in the final song along the lines of "you will snap out of this state when you next hear the word Amen."
We decided it might explain why the ones who arrive late after the opening song usually sit there looking all around them as if wondering why everyone else is so enthralled and enthusiastic about things but they are not.
What do you think?

Why did the Governing Body come behind the curtain?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inin the movie the wizard of oz, while the whole yellow brick road gang was being addressed by the great and powerful wizard of oz, the dog toto ran off to the side, pulled back on a curtain, and showed that a normal-looking humbug of a person was operating cranks and levers.
for a short while, the normal-looking man kept yanking levers and cranking cranks, and said into the microphone (which made the great and powerful wizard speak the same words) "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!
i am the great and powerful wiz .

The brainwashed majority cannot see it other than what they are told it is. I happened to comment on a friend's FB post something about the GB. After which I was jumped on because I had suggested that they were not led by HS. In reply I pointed out that that November article a year ago the GB said that the food they produce isn't always perfect or true. My exfriend has since blocked me.

Sure she stands up when they play the national anthem in the tennis tournaments. Never understood how she could claim to be a JW.

Anyone struggle to find meaning in life?
by Good JW injust wondering if this is a common thing for you guys and girls?
when i left the jws it was hard to make a connection with people, much of the time i felt that whatever they wanted to talk about just didn't seem relevant/deep/meaningful.
i find myself filtering my mind to get to a level with others (small talk mostly).

Remember the JWs publication "Life Does Have A Purpose"? Their purpose was to knock lots of doors and count hours of time.
Well how did that work out for you?
It's your life so it's your purpose.
Explore the world around you both in travel and in print. Get involved in a charity which strikes a chord with your soul. Be it animal or people or planet earth. You can find fulfilment in the little things you are doing to make this world a better place for the next generation. In this way you do not have to wait for a 1,000 years to pass by to see good results for all your hard work.
Sit down and watch the sun setting. Life's meaning is for you to decide.

Manmade rules
by Jrjw ini was talking to someone a few years ago and he said in his congregation they have a rail of white shirts prepared in the cloakroom for if a speaker doesn't have a white shirt on.
it was a rule in their hall that all brothers in the platform must wear white shirts when going talks and if the speaker won't comply when asked to change into the shirt they provide an elder in the congregation will do the talk instead.
i have never known any other halls do it so it must be a rule the elders have made up without gb input.

Anxiety, OCD, Hoarding, and the JWs
by Spiral ini'm noticing what seems to be a higher incidence of the above among the local jws than in the "general" (read: worldly) population.
i don't say this lightly, my wanderings around the fringes of jw society locally is revealing an alarming trend here.
the poverty doesn't help (there are good jobs, but you need a degree or qualifications to get one).. anyone else see this?

You have forgotten the most obvious type of OCD, namely scrupulosity. The obsession that you are in some way offending the Almighty. This is very common among the Witnesses.
Here is an OCD article which explains it better than I ever could.

Tell everyone at the field service group that you are going to do your return visits rather than first call. Add that they are very wary of strangers and you have taken ages to build up a rapport with them, so you need to go back on your own.
Then head to the nearest café or bar in the opposite direction of where the rest are going out on first call.
